Second Skin.

At the end of your appointment after the tattoo is complete, I use a “wrap” known as SecondSkin to cover the tattoo to begin its healing process. “SecondSkin is a medical-grade, transparent, adhesive barrier that protects new tattoos while they are healing. It is latex-free, waterproof, breathable, and hypoallergenic.”

For best healing results please leave the wrap on for 3-4 days. There may be a build up of plasma under the SecondSkin which is completely normal.

Removal.

When removing the bandage, start by peeling up an edge from the top of the bandage and pull downwards. Do not pull away from your skin, but rather pull back and and across the skin. If peeling an edge proves difficult, try attaching a piece of medical tape to the film to help lift it away from the skin. It may also be easier to remove the bandage under some warm water.

*"You may experience some redness around the tattoo where SecondSkin was applied to the un-tattooed skin. This is also completely normal and may occur with any type of medical adhesive. If you do develop an adverse reaction on the tattoo, discontinue use immediately.”

Aftercare.

After the SecondSkin is removed, if you have access to antibacterial soap you may use that to clean up the area, otherwise warm water also works. Pat the skin dry with a soft cloth and apply a small amount of fragrance and alcohol free moisturizer.

Until the tattoo is fully healed (roughly four weeks) try to avoid any picking or scratching of the tattoo, direct sunlight on the area, and tight clothing. It is normal for fine line tattoos to need a touch up because of their small nature. Please feel free to reach out for a touch up at any time after the healing process.
